So, they are like "hex signs" that people put on barns? Very stunning!

Beautiful!!! Tell us about your process....did you tape it to get everything so perfect? What type paint did you use?

I am making the "Barn Quilts on American Barns" quilt. I have all the blocks done and assembled. I am now in the process of putting all the borders on. I am going to add borders until it is a queen size quilt. The barn quilt I painted, is 4 feet X 4 feet the design is taken from Eleanors barn quilts book. It was tricky to get the proper angles and to tape it all of to paint it, but I love it and it was worth the work!!! Thanks everyone for your nice comments.

We just bought a 4 ft X 4 ft piece of plywood. A better grade of plywood is helpful. I just divided up the board as though I was drawing a 9 patch. Then just worked each section out, drawing lines . We then taped off all the parts we wanted White. Painted them, a couple of times. Then proceeded to tape off and paint the next color. As you can tell this is a little tedious but also a lot of fun. You just paint a little each day. We used exterior paint from Menards. I hope you all will try it. Lots of fun!!!

We got a 4 ft by 4 ft good quality piece of plywood from Menards. We did not screw it directly to the wall, we used metal hangers and have large screws to slip the hangers onto. Since I have painted 2 other designs (3 altogether) then I can change out my design occasionally. Keeps my neighbors guessing!!!
