    Looks to me like it was a strip piece. 2-1/2 strip of black 5-1/2" strip of batik and 2-1/2" strip of white. Sew strips, press, and cut triangles from the strips.

    The way you placed the white and dark fabrics is stunning. It makes the quilt pop and sparkle. Beautiful.
