I have in the past crocheted some doily pieces somewhat like that, but not that big.
Crocheting is even more intense because of the pattern, tension, design, thread, etc.
Your friend is sure a needlework artist. She does beautiful work and she should enter her table topper in some type of contest--she sure will win.
I am glad you two found each other. It was a friendship made in heaven, as God must have had a hand in having you two meet.

I've made pieces like that before, they take a lot of work but are very rewarding...a lost art to be sure! This is a beautiful piece!
The cool thing about these is if you're careful when you pick them off the table to dust, they leave their pattern behind in the dust. Pretty.
