Just the first 3 blocks. A simple package of Aunt Martha's patterns and some red embroidery thread and muslin.

I laid them on top of a quilt in the frame that I am working on, so it kind of shows through the muslin, sorry. Kind of distracting.

These are going to be in a quilt. I haven't decided how many to make or how I'm going to do it. I'm flying by the seat of my pants. I'm have in mind to do a fabric sashing, hoping to find a suitable red/ecru background print fabric. Other than that, I haven't a clue.

No way! My mom is doing these in blue! She also mixed in some boys. She has hers all embroidered and for a block design she is using a row of a blue solid and a row of a blue print around each block, and then will sash in white. (She got a bunch of those running eighths fabrics in blue to use for the strips around.)

I am in love with hers and it looks so pretty in red, too! I can't wait to see a finished picture of your quilt! I will get a picture of my mom's and post it on here when she gets done with it.

Cool! I might have to add some boys, too, although I only have granddaughters at this stage of the game, so I was originally just thinking girls.

Love your Red Work. Look forward to seeing the other blocks as you get them done and also your finished quilt. I get inspiration for all of you on this forum.

Jo, I have been admiring that beautiful quilt in your avatar. Is there a bigger picture of that quilt somewhere on the board that I missed?

Ohhh ... How cute the images are! I love the redwork and bluework too.
Your little quilt is going to be just darling and you are doing a great job on them!

I just bought a new redwork pattern to make too. The little children are playing in the snow. It is a original sunbonnet series from a gal in tonopah, nv. The vender who had made it up and displayed it at her booth used a varigated red dmc thread that was so cool! It brought the images alive. I am making mine with that thread this time.

One more large block and 4 little ones. I'm gonna put these in the corners. The little ones will be 3 inches finished.
