Bennington Quiltfest
The Bennington quilt show was week before last. I hope you enjoy the pictures. there are a lot so I will have to upload them in several posts.
Here is my entry. I got a vendor ribbon

This was all hand embroidered. Barns with barn quilts! How cute is that?

This quilt was very popular! It took two vendor ribbons and it won 3rd place People's choice.

This was so clever. The maker did a rendition of Whistler's Mother in postage stamp sized squares.

There were several quilts with sashiko style embroidery quilting on them. All very well done

I thought this quilt was a fabulous way to use scraps.

Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the whole quilt. The tag indicated these were all hand embroidered blocks from photos the maker either took herself or had found. It took 1st place people's choice for wallhangings. All hand quilted too. Here is onel close ups of the blocks. I will post more in the following replies

Another great way to showcase scraps of Asian prints.

There were three Fire Island Hosta quilts. two bedsize and one wallhanging. One of the bed size ones took 2nd place People's choice

This quilt was very intriguing and clever. The maker did classic Lady of the Lake blocks then used a broderie perse technique and appliqued various lady cut outs from fabric on it.

Here is a closeup of one.

More

I loved the maker's use of color in this North winds quilt.

Another masterful use of color

I was completely enamored with this wall hanging called Exotic Flowers. All hand turned applique and gorgeous sashiko. The maker said it was a BOM and she executed it perfectly. Yummy! This took 2nd place People's choice for wallhangings

Close up of the sashiko

A mini modern wholecloth.

First place people's choice was a whole cloth that was all hand done. My full shot of it didn't come out very well but here is a close up. The maker wrote that this was to be her last quilt due to suffering a stroke and multiple health problems. I was happy she took first place People's choice.
