Thanks for sharing your WIP. I love Asians and your quilt is going to really showcase them beautifully. Please post when you're done! I know what you mean about the directional factor, I ran into that too.

Beautiful quilt - isn't it fun to change things up a little. I have had the pattern for many years and have yet to make one, you inspire me to do one soon.

I saw one at a quilt show in Milwaukie, Oregon a few weeks ago from the BQ3 pattern. The quilter had made "Veggie Cats" (can't remember the pattern designer) and used them in the big block areas - it was absolutely stunning. She had many other quilts on display that were equally stunning - did beautiful applique work.

Yes, it certainly is fun to change things up. One thing I'd like to try is doing this quilt with a kaleidoscope in each square.
