I sure wish I could get a new camera soon because you really can't see all the colors in my pics right now. Oh well. :D Wouldn't want to take money away from getting fabric now would I? lol
Welcome to the Quilting Board!
I sure wish I could get a new camera soon because you really can't see all the colors in my pics right now. Oh well. :D Wouldn't want to take money away from getting fabric now would I? lol
This is beautiful! How did you do it? Did you take a class, read a book or teach yourself?
I'd love something like this of the redwoods!
Its absolulty gorgous. your are not only a great quilter but and artist as well.
The trees look so real I can see myself being able to peel off the bark. How did you get the sky so beauitful. If it weren't for the stiching I say it was painted. I have looked at it 4 times and just I'm at a loss for words
I am blushing. Thank you very much for all the praise. I could do a wall hanging for you of the Redwoods. I just need a good picture to work from. I would certainly be willing to give it a try if you'd like to trade a lap quilt or something. Just let me know. I got this pattern from a book but am basically self taught. I live in the boonies so no classes near me.
The sky is a Batik fabric that I added a fancy stitch to. I search stores and the net for just the right pieces that will work for landscapes. People think I'm crazy when I'm in a store talking to myself, saying things like, oh wow that sure looks like a thunderstorm, or a sunny sky to me. LOL
I am going to talk to myself more when I am looking at fabrics. Your choices are beautiful. This prompts me to say that this is one reason to shop at a store other than WalMart. If you found fabrics like these at WM it would be a major fluke. Quilt stores know what we are looking for, and try their best to have it for us.
WOW !!!!!!!!!! You are one talented lady :!: :!: That is beautiful!
Yes you are right. I do check at Walmart but seldom buy there. I buy a lot online but also check the thrift stores, drapery places and yard sales. You never know what you're gonna find. :) Thank you
Wow! These trees look real. This is wonderful. You did a great job.
That is Fantastic!!!
The sky is exceptional! And the trees do look like you could peel pieces off them.

Thank you all sooooooo much for the compliments. Being a newbie it does my heart a world of good. I guess it means I am starting out pretty well and may have to do a few more. LOL Actually I have made about 10 more since I posted this pic. I need to get pics of them but my camera is so old that I hate to because it doesn't show the true colors anymore.
Oh, my, that's the best I've seen! Love those birches was wishing for some when we returned from WV but don't they would live long in our heat and humidity here along the coast.
Your work is wonderful!
Sharon
Thank you Sharon and no they wouldn't make it on the coast. Had tons of them where I was born and I really like them. :-) Our soldiers are never forgotten.
This is my daily prayer that they not be forgotten or blamed! Thanks so much for the reassurance!Originally Posted by rvquilter
