That's really awesome...I lost my Dear Little Mother year and a half ago and I honestly don't feel the pain lessening....I find it worse the longer she's gone, the more I realize she isn't coming back.....God it makes me so sad!! Sorry, your quilt is beautiful

Don't be sorry, from experience I know the second year is even worse. It takes a lot of time before the pain is going away and you can remember her with a smile. Even now, after 14 years, I still realize there are things I would love to share with her and it still can make me sad. But the happy memories prevail! So take your time and grieve, one day you'll smile again, I know you will.

Anael, I so admire your work.....and as for "Mom".....I lost mine about 14 yrs ago but she is always with me (in my mind and heart). I guess most of us miss our mom's......I sure do and often think about her when I sew.....she couldn't....literally....sew a button on. When I would go to her house, there was always a pile of things to mend....LOL! I laugh everytime I think of that.....Her mother sewed....in fact, I have several quilts she did....but somehow, my own mother just didn't have the skill nor did she want it. However, she was very creative and loved the arts.....I think this quilt in your mother's honor is fabulous......it will warm your heart for years ahead and your family's as well......thanks for sharing this very personal journey with us.....
I love the purple fabric you used for these last flowers. Just perfect!!!

Thank you all so much!

Wendiq: my mom learned me how to sew when I was about 9 or 10 years old. We always did a lot of things together and even did competitions a few times LOL. Quilting is not common here so I didn't learn that from her. I started quilting about 2 years ago and I know she would have loved it. We liked the same things. A long time ago I lived in Germany, was going back to the Netherlands but when the time came to move I was in hospital. My mom did the move and did all the home decoration and I had no clue I loved what she did!

Here's the block I did today. It's block # 25 Gentleman's Fancy.

Ode to your Mom is a great pattern name and I'm sure she would be proud of you for it. I love the English ivy block
would make a pretty quilt top just with that one pattern. thanks for sharing. My mother did all of our quilts by treadle sewing machine and hand quilting. remember the quilting frame hanging from the ceiling in the living room. when she wasn't working on the quilting it was pulled up to the ceiling out of the way. My dad made the frames for her. as you said I miss them both daily.
Good luck with the rest of your quilt.
