Not everyone understands or appreciates what goes into making a quilt. You put your heart & soul into it, and it should make YOU feel good. Be proud of what you've accomplished. Give yourself a big hug... and move on to the next one. Sorry your Mom didn't give you the kudos you deserve... I think you did great!!  Someday, maybe I will get up the nerve to do a scalloped edge.... nah..... 8-)

We've talked on this sort of subject before.
Family means usually the most to us, and they are usually the hardest on us.
I do not know why "loved ones" want to hurt those closest to them, but it is often true that they indeed do so.
The key here is not to take personally, if you can manage, what is CLEARLY a wrong reaction on her part.
You have made a lovely thing. All of us, several hundreds at the very least, think it is gorgeous, and nicely done, and a real conversation piece, a bit unusual from the typical. And WE know what we are talking about.
So even though I know how much your mother's pleasure with your gift would have meant to you,
shift into another gear and say "She's like that" or "She's getting old" or something.
You have done a good thing.
You deserve praise, and WE all know that.

I for one am proud of you.

p.s. Wish you had made it for me, I love blue and pinwheels and quilts!!
