I agree about working on a dark colour. It is definitely harder to see what you are doing...

Your quilt is breath taking. Your stitches are perfect. What type of batting did you use? Did you stitch through a top layer, batting and a backing...and still have perfect stitches? Thank you for posting pictures, still can't believe it's hand stitched, it's so perfect!!!!!!!

For that quilt I have used a low loft poly batting, as far as I remember it was Hobbs Poly Down dark.
Yes, I stitch through all three layers and try to get even stitches - of course it is a matter of practice and I handquilt 8 hours a day...
