I've done this myself. Not on so large an area, but it works. And it doesn't come out either.

You're not crazy.....I've used colored pigma pens for years to color seam threads that show.....(and I'm SURE I'm not the only one....)

Crazy.. Perhaps...the sharpie will fade out and may discolor the black fabric.

I used a black sharpie on a favorite black shirt that got bleach splattered. I need to redo after several washings but I still have my favorite shirt.
