Default Black, White, Hot Pink Baby Quilt

Hi! My husband recently reminded me I hadn't made a baby quilt for a co-worker's new baby. He mentioned it in front of the co-worker. I was really looking forward to not having to make any baby quilts right now and working on WIP's for a while...oh well...there when that idea! I casually asked the guy what colors they did the baby's room in (she's about 4 months old). He said black and hot pink...I'm a scrappy kind of gal so I headed over to Pinterest to see if any black/hot pink quilt combos caught my eye. I found a cute scrappy black/white with pink flowers appliqued to it. I tweaked it a bit. I made less flowers and mine are brighter pink. She did a white outerborder and then pink binding and it just didn't "pop" enough for me. I think I will do simple crosshatching for the quilting, outline the flowers and stitch in the ditch on the borders. I hope they like it...Here's a picture . Thanks for looking!

Right in front of the co-worker??!! I'd have shot him when I got home!!
You are sweet to do these for so-workers when you have other desires on your quilty plate.

Jan-the guy had just driven 6 hrs-1 way-to bring us our truck (DH is a district manager and had driven to the guy's store then flew with the higher ups to other stores so the guy brought us our truck back). He had to tow a trailer with 2 big cabinets on it for my quilting space. So I didn't want to make a fuss. I have a bunch of scrappy tops that were donated to me and I thought I would just use 1 of those. Then I opened my big mouth and asked the guy for colors..what what I thinking???

It went together really fast since I ordered a charm pack of b/w's and just had to flesh it out with a few of my own. I'm such a scrappy old-fashioned kind of gal that this was way out of my comfort zone...but I really like how it's turning out and will definitely keep it in mind for future baby quilts.
