I've got this one well under way, but am stuck on what to put in the blocks and around the center medalion. The pattern calls for simple flowers joined by green stems. I'd like to do something a bit more. Was thinking of red maple leaves or a different flower. Anyway - here it is so far.

What I have done so far, still need to add top and bottom panels with applique, sashing and borders.

The center of the quilt will be circled by vines and something red.

The log cabin with red center and a star block that will have a red something in the middle.

since it will have piecing and applique, would you consider red embroidery for the centers?

Very cool pattern, I love the effect!

I think a vine and flowers would look great, but really you could have anything you're into. Small red butterflys and vines would be nice, butterflys are my thing. You could have hearts, chain lengths, flames, (trying to think outside the square here)

What about a black vine, your light black/white print leaves and lots of red berries??

It's beautiful!! And you could just "make up" a flower that's all red with maybe some black in it to go in the middle....

I appreciate all your suggestions. I'm going to put the vines and leaves on in green and keep looking for something other than the flower shape they provide. It is just too plain for this great design. I can't put the blocks together till after I do the applique, but can continue with the top and bottom borders. They are both white with the applique as well. :)

Stunning. The tiny touches of red make the quilt exciting.

Maybe red roses and rose buds on the vines. There are some really pretty patterns for roses. Would depend on the detail you are thinking. What you have looks really good. Will be fun to see what you do for the rest of it.
