I really like this one. But how do you know what length to cut your strips?

Well, first I joined all the strips together in a pleasing to me manner. I made sure I alternated color and pattern on the fabrics. Then I started sewing the rows together until I got it as wide as I wanted then cut the first row at that point. Then I continued on. The strips started out the width of the fabric, originally. Although I love how it turned out, there's no way I could reproduce it exactly. It's a sort of "seat of my pants" type top.

I love the After Dark collection. It's so deco and NY in the 1930's (no I wasn't there). Your pictures may be just the push I need to go ahead and order something from that line. Your quilt is striking and beautiful.

P.S.- how large is it? Did you use the pre-cut strip set (if so how many) or did you cut strips from yardage?
