Should be 12" I think. I didn't measure once I sewed the 4 blocks together. But individually, they finished and trimmed out to 6".

That looks like fun. My eye was following the placement of the cubes and I think the top left is on a different rotation (not that it makes a difference). I took a class once where we layered five/six fabrics (in your case four) and cut them at the same time. Separated the shape/stacks and rotated the top fabric to the bottom: first stack rotate one down, second stack rotate two down, and so forth until each shape/stack has one in each fabric. With a sharp rotary cutter it made the cutting go faster. We were making placemats and the quilting was just free shadow quilting the shape into a diminishing center. It was a great class.

I have these! I was going to start on a quilt and my girlfriend needs a tote. So....tote first, then maybe I'll pull out my templates!
