Block of Quilt I'm going to Donate

My niece passed away a couple of weeks ago at the age of 13. I decided I was going to make a couple of quilts to donate to the childrens hospital that helped her thru her cancer. I have tons of UFO's and these blocks are probably 20+ years old but it seemed like a good reason to finish this up. Interestingly the blocks finish at 13" and I first found 13 blocks and then found another 13. Even though 13 is suppose to be a unlucky number this looks like this was meant to be.

So sorry. Its hard when they die so young. I think that "13" thing is so interesting, something we as humans are left to wonder about. God Bless you and your family. Post when you have finished the project.

The block is lovely and will make beautiful quilts! 13 has always been my lucky # and hopefully it will be for the recipients of your quilts!

What a great idea to use your blocks in memory of your niece. Bless her heart. Those are very soothing colors and will bring someone comfort.

Sorry for the loss of such a young person. But how cool is that the block is the same as her age! How nice of you to make this for others.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your 13 yr. old niece, but I'm sure making the donation quilts is helping you in your grieving process.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure that the hospital will use your donations well.

I love that setting of half sq triangle blocks. I may have to steal that one!

With deepest sympathy for your loss. How tragic for the parents and rest of the family. The blocks are so pretty and how odd that you found 13 and found 13 again!
