i tend to interject my past tote-making experience into new Patterns. I assume too much...with this said, follow the pattern as written and dont try to adjust how it goes together . I did leave the top border off because I wanted to see the foxes. The bottom border secures the bottom of the outside pocket. Now that I have made one of these..I would definitely make another one of these totes. So....pre-read the instructions a follow them accordingly.
