This is hand embroidery. And my own design.

I started with a foundation larger than the measurements of my Bible (I traced my Bible, but had to square it up a bit).
Then the fabric was stitched on. And the embroidery was done that it stayed inside the measurements for the Bible. (I didn't want to sew through stitching)
I did fully line it. Stitch piece face-up, pockets for cover face-down, lining face-down. Being careful to line everything up. Then stitch, leaving a hole at the bottom of the spine to turn. It was a snug fit, but not so tight that the Bible didn't shut.

I'm planning on doing this again for my younger daughter.

I enjoyed using an orphan block (the little fabric texture bit) and adding some appliqué. I enjoy projects like this because it's small and can be personalized.

Kara,
Would love to make this for bible study friends! Would you share the pattern? Thank you!

Very creative and the hand embroidery is lovely. Well, it looks like hand embroidery. Haven't seen a machine that does French knots...yet! Nice finish to a UFO.

That is beautiful. So decorative and creative. I love it. It sure makes the one I made for a friend, look so simple.
