Default Book shelf finally finished

This quilt is for my niece for graduation. My sister started it making 3 squares and gave up. I took it on very excited to try it out! It was a lot of fun to make!

A few squares are special as they are book she loved as a child or teenager. The one with Scuttle(appliqué) from Little Mermaid is for her role as Scuttle in the play, Tardis (paper piecing)is for the love of Dr Who, the red riding hood block (paper piecing) is super special. She wrote a book about red riding hood and Snow White. The name of the book and her name as the author is on the book binding. I added a British flag (paper piecing) for the
time they spent in England on an Air Force tour. I added selvage edge titles on the some of books for titles to make it look more like a bookshelf.

Thank you for the bigger picture. This is truly a work of art! You put so much thought into the various components that reflect on parts of your niece's life. Very well done!!

That's going to be an AMAZING gift! It's such a pretty top - I love all the personalization you added - it's going to mean a lot to her, too. Be sure to post it quilted!

that is lovely. I recently gave away my wood grain fabrics I'd planned to make one with. Too many irons in the fire.

It's gorgeous! It's one of the nicest bookshelf quilts I've seen.
