This is my first full size quilt, and I'm wondering what to do for a border. I'm planning a 5" border, but I'm debating on whether to add something to it ... I was thinking appliqued buttrflies with the raspberry batik that is the chain (she loves butterflies and the raspberry).

I think your suggestion of butterflies in the white sounds lovely, your colors are beautiful and the butterflies would just add alot. :-D

how about a thin border of a darker burgundy around first, then your border of butterflies on the next border, then a wider green border that matches your quilt... :D
And your quilt is beautiful, love those colors together.

I agree with 'quazyquilter' that a darker thin border would really set it off. The butterflies are a fabulous idea, except perhaps use a few different print fabrics in the raspberry color, just for interest. Be sure to post pix when your're done!

I agree the thin border would set off the quilt beautifully. Then go with the butterflies.
