These are just the cutest handbags! I was just surfing the board last night to get suggestions on a handbag pattern and so many of you have made one! I'm off to my LQS store to see if they have the pattern since they are big on handbags. If not I'm ordering one today!

    Thanks!
This is a very easy pattern......just follow the directions step by step..
The first one took a little longer--I'm a visual learner and reading directions can be a challenge for me sometimes.

I made the handles on them longer than the pattern called for.... I cut 2 5" X WOF and then cut off between 8 to 9" to have shoulder handles.

I'll have to look again when I get home......may be a couple of days. My MIL is in the hospital and that's where we are.

I got the fabrics for Sarah's tote--the stripes and polka dots at The Violet Patch--an online store. I think the stripe is Whispering Glen by Debbie Beaves.

I love your color combinations. That makes all the difference in the world with this pattern. I love the bow tuck pattern and the purse I made with it is my very favorite purse over all my nice leather ones and all. Yours are so pretty.

    Thanks!
I don't know if you can see it well, but I did make one small alteration to the inside pockets--rather than cutting off the extra at the end, I make a pleated pocket in each tote. thought it would be nice to have a pocket with a little more room in it front to back.

I absolutely love the colors on Martha's tote. Beautiful.

I hope mine come out as nicely as yours. Is this the smaller or larger one?

LOL.......sounds like something I'd do.!! As a matter of fact I did something similar on Tuesday. I had someone ask me to make them a Bow Tucks. So I go to store to pick fabric, pick and buy one piece that I already have 2 previous purchases of in my stash!!! DUH!! Old timer's is really catching me faster than I want it to....

Now for those who wanted to know:
    1. these are both the larger bow tucks totes
    2. the pattern is by Peggy Sturges and produced by Quilts Illustrated--it can be found on many, many websites.
    3. Now for the fabrics:
    a. Martha's tote:
top fabric: F423 Shakespeare's Flowers by Fabric Freedom
bottom: Krystal Lilies by Marianne Elizabeth of Vintage & Vogue for P & B fabrics
Inside lining fabric: by Faye Burgos for Marcus Brothers fabrics
    b. Sarah's tote:
top: Whispering Glen by Debbie Beaves of the Violet Patch, by RJR fabrics
bottom: Heirloom Lilacs also by Debbie Beaves of the Violet Patch RJR fabrics
inside lining fabric: Garden Twist Collection II by Sharon Evans Yenter for In the Beginning Fabrics --I don't think this one is available anywhere anymore.

Thanks for all the kind compliments!
