I made curtains for my son's room with old jeans and used the tape with the rings to draw them open and close. Made the piece like you did but no binding. Keeps the light out.

GREAT Quilt! It makes me want to get busy.

(I just thought of something...if he does take it to college he must have his name and your phone number on it. Sometimes kids take things at college. especially if they like an item. I hate saying that but it is true.)

Yours looks wonderful! My 2nd quilt was a jean rag quilt. Found out that they need a half inch seam. Ended up re-doing it last summer! Everyone comments on it though. Know what you mean about the seams and pockets. Great way to recycle.

This reminds me of the very first quilts i attempted back in the 70's from my kids cut offs (back when if jeans developed a hole the legs were cut off) back then not knowing anything about "quilting" I cut squares, sewed back together letting the different shades be the pattern. used old cotton printed bedspread for backing....no batting.....my "kids" still use & wash these today
