Last night I started putting together this braid table runner (for my MIL for Christmas) using quiltbug.com's free pattern. Today I finished it. This thing REALLY goes together fast and was/is a blast to work on. Just thought I'd throw the pic up on here and ask for suggestions as to what color border I should add. Do you think it would be too much to use the darkest purple as a border?

Also, I'm thinking of appliqueing some hearts and/or flowers to the center just to tweak it a little. Thanks to all for their advice and help in the main section.

I thought about adding another dark row, but I think if I do a dark border it will look okay.

Plan to applique hearts and flowers, possibly from this pattern: http://www.patchpieces.com/files/posyfolkheart.pdf

That's beautiful!!!! Love the colors! I think a dark border would be beautiful! So would some flowers, but you don't have to add any.

This is very pretty, I would not "applique" any hearts or flowers to it though, it might look too busy! I do think you might want to add a darker border to it. You could always "quilt" a heart or flower to the center.

I love how the light colored center turned out. I think a dark border sounds great!

Good for you! This is really pretty. Yes, it calls for the dark border. And another easy idea for me - woot! Thanks for sharing.
