    Bright French Braid top done!

I am making this for my great niece. The focus fabric and border is Laurel Burch Celestial. The rest is mainly batiks with a few cottons mixed in - those were from my stash. The pattern is from the book French Braid Quilts by Jane Hardy Miller. I'm going to piece my back with some leftover Celestial, some purple with gold stars and whatever else I have leftover from the front.

If you've never done a French Braid before, you should try one. It's much easier than you'd think! This is my second and surely not my last. The hardest part is deciding which fabrics to use.

I didn't have a good place to hang it for pics, so these will have to do. I'm still deciding how to quilt it, but it will be a while before I have time to do the quilting on it.

OMG - that is gorgeous! I LOVE the fabrics and the colors. This would be my very favorite quilt if it were mine. I will have to do one with those colors. I am so new to quilting, I have never tried that design, but will definitely add it to my list.

Me too. I think when the time comes, I'm going to have a hard time giving it away! But, I can't keep them all. At least I know it's going to someone who really wants a quilt and will take care of it.

Phemoninal! I have been contemplating trying a french braid table runner and you have just pushed me toward doing that even more. What a cheerful quilt to have around - no rainy days with this beauty
