Bright and happy toddler quilt
This is my 4th finish - made for my niece's 2nd birthday. The center star is based on Missouri Star Quilt Co.'s binding tool star ('Starstruck') tutorial. It was super easy and came together really quickly. Used the leftover scraps for the border and pieced binding. The background is an Essex cotton/linen blend; I really love the texture.
The toughest part was the quilting. I am sewing on a vintage New Home machine with minimal throat space. I wanted to echo the star shape in each quadrant of the quilt which involved making a series of 'L' shapes with their associated 90-degree pivot. Just hard to wrangle the quilt, roll/re-roll, etc. I have vowed to not do any quilting other than straight line until I get a machine with more throat space. Happy to finish and gift another!
