I really do like your border choices. If you are talking about the small colored areas in the lower bottom corners, that is what happens when you have the lightest and darkest colors near the bottom or top of your Bargello. I CHEAT and just remove those dark colors and replace it with a more appropriate color. I have done that for years especially if the Bargello quilt was to be entered into competition.

WOW. I love the colors. Would love to learn how to make one. I would also have to have someone pick the colors, for I am not good at that. Wished I lived near you,so that I could learn from a pro.

Yeah, I didn't really zoom in on those corners until I had the borders on. They don't bother me in this quilt though, as when it is on the bed you don't see those corners at all. In the last Bargello I did, I did switch out a few of the pieces. That one is on the wall though, and the dark color by itself really jumped out at me. In fact, I think it was your advice I followed when I replaced those pieces.

What I would change is that I used 21 fabrics, and I would have used just 20, as you and I both know that an even number works better in a Bargello. I also would not have cut the skinniest pieces at 3/4 inch. That ended up actually being too small for a bed sized quilt. An inch or an inch and a half would have given the same result with a lot less work.

LIke I said, I learn something with each quilt...

Picking out the colors is the part I have the most trouble with. I gathered fabric I liked until I had "extras," and then I just selected the best ones. I started with 35 fabrics...doesn't take much of each...and then narrowed it down to 21. I should have narrowed it down one more, but...that is hindsight. (Pressing so that the seams "cuddle" works better with an even number...)
