I finished this quilted wall hanging yesterday to submit for competition. The horse's name is Willy. He is a famous rodeo horse in these parts.
The Calgary Stampede is a yearly rodeo here (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) in July.
I'm hoping to win the 1st place ribbon!

Well, I'm hoping you win first place, too. That is so beautiful and so realistic. Good luck. You sure do deserve first place with that.

Great job. Did you use raw edge applique? If so, did you stitch around edges, if so, what stitch did you do? How about all of the little accents?

I would vote 1st place ribbon.

That is wonderful!! I love picture quilts and admire anyone who makes them. If I were a judge, I would give you the top prize.

I attached the pieces to a base with Heat n Bond (should have used Steam a Seam or something of higher quality  ). Pieces were starting to come off as I quilted.
I cut each little itty bitty piece and ironed it on. I tried using a variety of colours for all-over quilting. Some swirls, some continuous line quilting. It turned out pretty well but I wished I had more time to work on it.
Ahh, the stress of the deadline!!

Willy is a beauty and so is your quilt! You make me miss my 3 quarterhorses! Sigh.
