Default Hamilton Tiger Cats

In November I had asked for suggestions for football words etc. http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t206766.html for a quilt for our good friend suffering with Alzheimers. He passed away & we went to his funeral today, his daughters had put the quilt I made for him up on the wall along with pictures etc. of their lives. I think it will be okay to share a picture of the finished quilt with you now, although I did mark his name prominently on it so that it wouldn't go astray once he went into care. I gave him the quilt when he came to our home on Christmas Eve as they have for many years, I wish that I had a picture of his face when I gave it to him, he smiled which was so nice to see. He was only 73 years old and his loving wife was able to keep him at home right up until Easter, so he was only in a care facility for a month before he lost his battle. A very touching Celebration of Life today.... they are Anglican so there was a lot of their hymns & prayers for their comfort, BUT my favourite part was the loving stories from his wife & 2 surviving daughters. They had also made up a CD of pictures, what a thoughtful service. Hope you enjoy the quilt. I did not use a pattern as such, but I had searched & searched on line for just the right elements to make this purely his quilt. (I know there are patterns out there similar to my layout but I didn't take note of any of them as I searched, I apologize to any that may have designed a similar idea) I wanted to keep it a secret from his wife, so only managed to salvage 2 actual embroidered Hamilton Tiger Cats symbols - one quite faded from their old discarded jackets. Absolutely lovely, I'm sure it will be a family treasure forever. I love the backing - don't you love it when the perfect fabric shows up just when you need it?

I'm sorry you lost a great friend. I've seen many Ticat games so I really like your quilt.
