A group of us get together 4 times a year to put Quiltlets together with Stuffed Animals to give to children who are having a difficult time in one way or another. A lot of the buddy bears go to the local police station and are carried by the police and given to children they come in contact during the course of duty. Some go to local charities. We use orphan blocks that are mistakes or some special made to make the Quiltlets and then we attach them to the Stuffed animals along with a printed poem to help cheer the children. Aren't they cute?

Oh these are adorable! I would love to see this idea adopted in my area. Would you share the poem with us?

Oh that's so cute. That's gotta give you the warm fuzzy feeling inside for such a wonderful gift you give these children.

Those are adorable. What a great idea! The bears are a wonderful thing for kids in crisis!

    I love that bear program.
Many years ago the 4 kids and I were in a car accident. They were 5 - 12 years old. I had to be transported to the hospital, only 3 of them could ride with me. I had to leave my 12 year old with the highway patrolman at the accident scene. Anyway the paramedics gave each of my kids a teddy bear. They all still have them, that was 16 years ago!!!!

We just donate locally but anyone could do this. Just start putting the word out that you are in need of stuffed animals and orphan blocks then get a group of quilters together to assemble quiltlets and attach them to the animals. Call local shelters and the local police departments in the area and you will be amazed at how this takes off. You can also give them to the local fire stations too.
