Calling all log cabin lovers... do you see any reason this won't work?

That was so nice of you to do that dunster. Now we can see even better a whole quilt version.
Very cool. Thanks

The block altogether has 49 square inches, so it was more dark than light already. That is neither good nor bad, just an observation, something to think about. I put your new design in EQ6 and made a simple quilt design (just 6 blocks square) so you can see the amount of dark vs. light more clearly.

I could be wrong but I think that you're starting with the floral square, and sewing a light to it, as in your pattern, but then you're sewing a floral as your third piece, whereas in the design its another light. Maybe thats making the difference?
I think they're all the same direction though. When I did the lack and white block swap on here recently I did a log cabin design, and made 11 identical, and 1 with went the opposite direction (clockwise instead of anticlockwise). Luckily since it was for a swap it didnt matter.
They look great either way though. I'm hoping to do a log cabin soon - all the ones I see on here are fantastic and inspiring.

dunster!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!! I soooo appreciate you taking the time and trouble to work the idea up on EQ6. And you're right--I wanted more of the florals to show, but I also wanted to see how the design would change if the block ended with the floral--it'd be more flowing rather than have ends/gaps.
What fun EQ is--but so time consuming to learn I know and my new photo editing program takes all my spare time now... maybe once I've learned this more... maybe for Christmas.
Thanks for your comments everyone!
I'm back to add some photos of the lay-outs with the original blocks to compare to dunster's--although it might not work because we need the same thing to compare. I'm curious if the new idea is as wavy.
Back again--yes--it is just as curvy. I didn't lay it out in the barn raising design--but I LOVE having more florals in there!! It'll add more of a punch for smaller quilts too. :D
dunster--you're awesome! :D
