Your post is very touching and the block you recreated is beautiful.

You did a beautiful job, I think it looks like the block from that posting.

Now that is dedication! Way to go in figuring it out and making it so very well. I really think it is a special star.

I am currently piecing a test block to see how my paper piecing instructions are working. So far so good. Hopefully by the end of this week or the first of next week I will have the paper piecing pattern to share too.

    Thanks,
    Sherryl

I spent the rest of the day and most of the night looking for that block. After pouring through books, online sites, and my EQ7 I ended up empty handed. So I decide to recreate the block and this is my version. I call it "Candlequilter Star" and dedicate it to anyone and everyone who has used candle light to quilt by. It was very obvious in the picture danjfalke posted of the quilt made with this block that it was very old. I am not trying to take away from anyones design or anything. It is a beautiful quilt that he shared the picture of and this is just my version of that block. I hope whoever quilted that quilt many years ago is looking down with a smile on her face because that design is still bringing joy to people.

    Thanks,

I will be working up directions on my EQ7 for this block. If anyone does come up with the original name please let me know. Again this is just my version that I am calling "Candlequilter Star".
You did great Sherryl. Thanks for taking up your time to come up with the pattern and also taking your time looking for the original. So thoughtful of you to do this. I know how it is to look for something and you took your time away from things you could have been doing, just to help the rest of us. I didn't see the orig. pic. but I sure like your version. I love stars. I am anxious to see the directions to this. Thanks again to you and others on this board that spend their valuable time finding things like this for the rest of us. Crafty Bear is always finding sites to help us out. ((Hugs)) Gerbie

That is beautiful, what a great tribute to quilters passed. Love the look of it and the colors you chose. Points are not my strongest so I'm avoiding all stars during my first attempts, but I'd love to see a quilt in this pattern with these colors.
