Here is my first attempt at paper piecing and my first of Candlequilter Star.

My thought when I picked out the fabrics was autumn but now that I'm looking at the photo I see spring ;-)

I now understand what volcanoing means because it took a good deal of pressing to get it reasonably flat.

Also, I'll have to put a note in the package to Candlequilter because one of the seams is so scant, it will need to be quilted heavily!

I have a patriotic colorway chosen so I'll make a second one hoping I can send one with fewer point errors and best seam allowances!

I love the center fabric!!! My star also came out less than flat. I'm hoping Candlequilter can "quilt that out"!

Thanks y'all! I knew I could count on you to forgive my shortcomings ;-)

The fabric was from WalMart. One of their packs of 7 fat qtrs. Has two other prints and another neutral blender in it. And it was on clearance because they are dumping the department and bringing the bolts and cutting tables back

    YEA! Happy dance!!

Also, I thought I was putting the print in the middle, instead of the center, until I got one eighth done and saw my mistake. Do you think it would look better with green in the center, then print, then brown and beige as they are in this first one?

Yes, I agree with you it does look more spring than fall. Great color combo and I am sure it will work just fine.

Sure appreciate all of your help,

Would look really cool if you did that center print with the Stack & Whack method so it was a kind of kaleidoscope star.
