DH and I have decided that except for really special commissions, all the quilts I make from here on are to benefit family, friends and those with special needs....with an occassional raffle quilt for local charities. Previously I did 2-3 auction quilts a year and put several up for sale at 2 quilt shows to help pay for my quilting supplies. I find that only making quilts for those who will really enjoy them makes it easier to put the work into them. DH really enjoyed. for example, being able to hand a quilt to a young woman who had been horribly injured by a drunk driver and others to friends newly diagnosed with cancer. Doing this makes both of us feel good.

It will be a very cheerful quilt for him! Congrats on the finish!

I am very aware that men, even more than women, often give up after strokes. When I saw him recently, he was walking etc quite well (Unlike my DH who had a major stroke about the same time), but my friend appeared to have aged about 15 years. I do hope my gift helps in some way.
