I did my CW quilt back in the mid 70's--it was the second quilt I ever made. I machine sewed the white blocks and set the 2.5" windows in with hand stitching. It's for double-size bed. I have had so many compliments that I decided to do another last summer--it is a UFO because I was unhappy with the results from doing it totally by machine (per Eddie's tutorial. I should 'frog' the windows out and start anew by hand, but too many projects are calling. Anyway, I use mine as a topper over the spread on a guest bed.

Your quilt is wonderful! I have all the fabric to make a Cathedral Window quilt, even started cutting the squares and sewed a few background squares but stopped short of putting them together. I am looking forward to the tutorial you have planned since your's is sewed by hand.

I am trying my hand at machine piecing part of the quilt this time around. I have made 3 totally by hand. 2 have held up very well and one has fallen apart. I was fortunate enough to get it back and I am slowly repairing it. It is a King Size Quilt so it is very heavy to manage in its current state. In the tutorial I am doing I will demonstrate both ways on the base blocks. I like to have a number of base blocks available so I can do the hand work while watching TV with my DH.

I love the cathedral window quilts. I only made a pillow back in the late 70's when I was just learning how to quilt. I never made a full quilt. I like the "old fashioned" way of making them though as opposed to the newer "short cut" version. Now I feel like starting on a new pillow. My daughter's dog kinda unsewn my first one. LOL
