TY and every else! When I finished the top it looked okay, but lacked some pizzaz. To me the fabric read tropical found some fishies to applique and off I went.

Glad to hear your GS is a fighter and is starting to pull through. Hope he gets strong enough to make it home soon!

I also made some little flannel ones about 24 x 24 for use as "utility" blankets. DS and DIL says it's quite colorful in NICU with all bright quilts atop the units. The quilts help shade tender eyes and darker quilts let less light shine through. I've also learned that red and black are a good color combination as it allows the babies to focus. I washed the blankets in "free" detergent and packed in ziplocs right away.

24 x 24 sounds like a good size to make! i will bet it looks great seeing all the colors in the room! great idea something small and quick to make. to donate to them.

I'm finishing up another scrappy that I started, but think I will give that to Ronald McDonald instead as it's quite a bit wider and longer that the 36 x 45. The 36 x 45 makes good use of a yard of fabric.
