    There are special fabric crayons you can buy. You color the item, then use a sheeting and iron over the parts colored to set it. Some people used to use the old colors to do it, but I don't think the newer kids sets work as well.

    I actually used my kids crayons. I colored it in, covered it with a paper towel to absorb the wax, and ironed it. If it needed a bit more color, do it again. You can layer color and shading that way. Prang and Crayola are the best brands of crayons.
