Here is the latest block for my Checkerboard Flowers BOM. This one is called Iris Rising. I have the next one now too, and I think it is especially pretty. It's in line with the others I need to do.

    I got this one here:

    http://www.storyquilts.com/html/chec...d_flowers.html

This quilt shop is doing a good job and the blocks come right on time.

I have two more I'm working on from another shop, but I'm not very happy with the delivery of them. They go months without sending any, then they'll send two practically on top of one another. And now they're sending the blocks out of sequence. When I call them about it they tell me they haven't received the patterns, which makes no sense to me. They have, however, promised that they're keeping track, and that I'll get all of the blocks eventually. Not very reassuring.

I love how checkerboard works as a border.

Barbara, (I just visited your Blog and realized that's your name, I've been referring to you as Cat)

Your block is so pretty. You really do a good job on all of them.
I have my first one finished. I have three others waiting. Life has been getting in my way.
Thanks you again for the link to the website site. I really do like this BOM.
    Nice Blog.

Thanks, I could do worse than to be referred to as "Cat." My favorite people are cats.

I'm glad you're enjoying the BOM. I like this one too. The checkerboard looks as if it would be tedious, but it goes together surprisingly fast. Instead of cutting 1 3/4-inch squares as the instructions say, I cut 1 3/4-inch strips and sew the light and dark together, then cut the two-patches from the strips. It goes much faster, and it's more accurate. Even if the strips are different lengths, I just chain-piece them together, adding one or the other as I come to the end of the previous strip. Works great.

Each block incorporates the colors of the block into the checkerboard. Together they all look so colorful together. I hesitated at that checkerboard pattern (the blocks are sewn together with a checkerboard sashing too). But I've really enjoyed doing it. I look forward to receiving the blocks each month. They actually send one about every three weeks.
