I adore how you incorporated a tribute to China in this quilt, especially how you have him playing with the string and it is wrapped around him.
And what a rare and special gift to have had him for so many years. Definitely a testimony to your loving care of him that he was with you as long as he was. I can only dream of having a cat live to such a ripe old age. I also understand how lost you feel without him. He was a part of your life for a very long time. I know not all people feel this way, but I always find a new addition helps to heal the hurt. A new puppy or kitten (or even an adult that need rescue!) in no way replaces the ones who have gone before but their presence helps make new love in your heart and it helps to fill the hole and squeeze out the hurt of loss left by the one who waits at the bridge.
I can tell you when my time comes it will be one big joyous reunion.

Your quilt is fantastic. I've always loved quilts with the house/schoolhouse. But the way you've incorporated China and his playful ways is just so creative.... wonderful. I know how difficult it is to lose a pet. We've always had dogs but they are the most loving companions we can ever have. It does get easier but never the same. Sorry for your loss.

Looks great so far. I think I would do a gridwork design in the center portion and echo the appliques. I am sure you will select a great quilting pattern.

This is so sweet...but sad that you had to say goodbye. What a nice way to honor your furbaby.
