Default Christmas door hanging

My mom is in assisted living and I make mini quilts to hang on her room door. They are great conversation starters for her and the other residents. This is the one I made for Christmas. The name of the pattern is 'Santa" and its by The Whole Country Caboodle. I used Warm and Natural batting for the bread and the rest is scraps and left overs that I have in the Christmas tubby. I think she will like it.

That is adorable and love the quilting. I had visited a facility and the doors look so much more like home.

Your Mom will love it as well as all the other residents. So nice of you to do that for her.

Using the warm and natural batting for the beard was genius! Your festive wall hanging will bring a smile to all who see it.

This Santa makes me smile. He is perfect for your mom's door in assisted living. He has just a little bit of attitude that is fun and mischievous. I can see him winking at the residents as they pass by. The simple quilting that make the bead look full and curly is perfect.

I love this idea and your results. My Mom lived in a facility that allowed them to hang anything within three feet of their doorways and it was so fun seeing what the residents prized. Some had been great oil or watercolor artists, some quilters, others cross-stitch experts etc. As she moved into assisted living they had a smaller area, but it allowed residents to identify which door was theirs, for those starting to get dementia. Once in the medical center/nursing home area, we moved Mom's calendar quilts into her room, but it was sad to see when she couldn't remember to change them out anymore.
