Since trugger referred to a "circles" pattern a few days ago, I thought I would try to get the nerve to post one or two that I made a couple years ago. It is also Raw Edge Applique' and I have used the 'Heat n Bond Lite. The only "quilting" that was done was a straight stitch around the large circles after it was sandwiched. All of the circles were initially edge-stitched with either a zig-zag or a buttonhole stitch onto the base square. They certainly aren't fancy-schmancy either, but the mom's were happy so then I was too! The pattern came from Quilter's Schoolhouse in August, possibly of 2002, so it's an oldie.

On the first one, Jackson's blanket, the baby shower was held at Christmas time and I really didn't have time to work with it very much, the baby wasn't due until April I think. So I grabbed a handful of fat quarters of a particular "family" of fabrics on display at my LQS. I cut and pinned a few squares and wrapped them up with a note saying " . . this is what I have in mind". The mommy liked it so much, she went to the same LQS and bought several yards of one of the fabrics to make covers for the seat and back of her rocking chair in his room. For Paxton's Baseball field, the mommy had indicated that the baby's room would be all baseball themed, with reds and blues as dominant color. Once I got started I really did get crazy. I found most of the baseball fabrics online. And then my DH started suggesting the various field positions. We ended up making a Game out of it at the baby shower. And BTW these two mommies are sisters.
