I love this. You absolutely nailed the correct period colors.

So often we see dulled down, greyed out colors advertised as "Civil War fabrics." Yet when we look at antique scrappy quilts from the Civil War era, we often see lots of bright Turkey red, that odd yellow green, bright yellow and butterscotch, cheddar orange, a Pepto Bismol double pink, and maybe some sky-blue double blue. Sure, there are lots of nice browns and tans, but so often there is a lot of white too.

Your quilt looks spot on and you should be really proud of yourself.

About those extra 9patch blocks-- if you set them on point, they will look totally different. Please let us see what you do with those, ok?

Don't chuckle too hard, I've just finished sewing all the 9 patches together and there's about 60 extras. Better guard your mailbox because if I can't find another layout that I love they may just end up there!
