This will be a small wall hanging for my mother-in-law. She asked me to make her one, and I found the perfect wine fabric over the summer. (They make wine and are Italian.) We had picked another pattern, but she just gave me the dimensions she needs: about 20" x 40" so I'm thinking a log cabin design is better for that size. I'm going to do 3 squares with 7" centers, and I'll do 4 1" (finished) logs around each side. If I add a 3" border it'll be 39" by 17". I didn't have a light picked for the other pattern...so I pulled these three and can't decide which looks better.

I sent these to her too.... but what's your take?

I have no idea what order the photos will post in, so I'll just say pick #1,2 or 3. :D

UPDATE FROM BELOW: the gold on the left side will be taken out, in case that helps your decision!

    Thanks!!

    Hubby picked the third too.

I goofed up my measurements--it would have made a 15" square, not an 11" one! Back to my graft paper.

I think I like #3, but if you think it is too much "gold" or she is not as fond of gold, go with #2.

Okay--the square has to be smaller. 12" will work, so I'll do a 6" center (fussy cut) with finished 1" strips, but I can't only fit 3 rows on each side, not 4. So, I'll take that gold on the left out! Then the color all of you like won't clash at all!

    :D Yes?? :D

roseville rose--do you mean the #3 pic? Or are you talking about the gold I took out? :D

I tried the gold on the left on the right and it's just too dark, bright...

Pic #3--I think it pulls the gold out of your wine fabric--like a chardonnay!

Since it is going to be a log cabin, why not use all 3 and maybe another light color for your light side of the cabin?

Melissa--I pondered going scrappy on both sides, but with only three squares, I thought it'd be too busy... so, although it's rarely what I usually do  , I was going to calm it down and stick to one fabric on the light side.

I like #3 best and keep the gold in as it blends with the rest and adds warmth.

Well, mil loved #1 and #3. I told her via phone that #3 really made it warmer, made the wine fabric brighter. But I like #1 too--esp how it'd look on the side on it's own...the green leaves really make all the greens blend. Soooooo, Mark's having lunch with his parents tomorrow and it hauling it all there. I'll know tomorrow what she's picked. :D

wow, I "seam" to be the only one so far, but I really like the light color in the first one #7129. It appears to have a bit of green in it, which really looks well with the other greens....just my 2 cents worth. All the fabs or really great.

I guess it is really too late to throw my two cents worth in at this point, but I really like number 3 also---but then I am always drawn to warm tones. I would leave the gold in it too. It gives it some "pop". It is going to be gorgeous!! I cannot wait to see it finished!
