This is a small wall hanging that was inspired by the works of Irena Bluhm. I recently purchased her book Quilts of a Different Color and got to work.

You need to draw a rough outline of your vase of flowers, and fill in with free motion quilted images using a variety of thread colors. Once complete, spray with water and block your work, let dry, bind to finish then color in the images with colored pencils. Paint fabric medium over colored sections.

My DD is a very good artist and sews, but doesn't quilt yet.
This could intrigue her and lead to other things ;-)

Wow, this is something that I want to do someday. I will have to put it on my "when I have time list", or better yet, I will show it to my 16 y.o. artistic daughter and see if she could do something like that. She'd probably do an anime person, but that would be OK too!

You get a fabric or textile medium from the craft store, it is usually in with the acrylic paints. Fabric medium will hold the colored pencil in place and prevent it from rubbing or washing off. It is suggested that you wash gently.
