Your post has given me new hope. I took a class that was using 2 1/2 inch "bricks" . Put about five of the blocks togeather and hated it. I have it all torn apart now and sitting in a plastic project box. All beautiful shades of browns. After seeing how you turned that pigs ear ( not really that bad) into a silk purse I may just pull mine out and try again . Thanks for giving me hope I can turn my mess into something lovely.
