It just took me too long and I had way too many quilts I wanted to make.
This was an easy quilt to make - I used Margot Languedoc pattern and instructions. It is made using strip piecing and each square went together very quick and very square. I did starch every strip just to make sure everything was square and even. I didn't use a layer cake as the patterns suggest, but fat quarters instead.

It is an up and down stitch - run the needle down and pull the tread through, then run it up and pull through. A lot of people do the rocking stitch where the thread is always on top of the quilt. I just can't rock the needle. I stab stitch using both hands - left hand on top to work the needle when it is on top of the quilt, and right hand on bottom to maneuver the needle at that time. It took a while to get used to using my left hand, but it made it so that I am able to quilt quickly. I also use a hoop and balance it on my chest in the front and the rest of the quilt in the back. It I get it positioned correctly, I never have to touch the hoop.

Oh I love love your quilt. It's beautiful. I like the pattern you used, and I am fond of little prints.

Your quilt is absolutely stunning, especially the quilting. I was amazed after reading that you stab and also use a hoop. I hand quilt all of my quilts but I have found that when I have to stab stitch in a particularly thick place my stitches are ok on the front but very crooked on the back.
