I posted a picture of this in another post that I had about making totes last, but wanted to show off a few pictures here too! I am awful proud of this, it's my second ever tote, made for my Mom.

The only thing is I think the straps might be a little too wide...she wants to use it to carry library books back and forth so I wanted to make them "cushiony" so they don't dig into her arm when she carries it. What do you think?

It is great! I need that pattern! The wide straps are part of the appeal.

I'm sorry, I don't know how to change the title of this topic and I meant to call it - "my second ever tote" - lol* Not "a couple of totes"!

I love your tote. The straps aren't too wide. I suppose with the next one you could make them narrower if you used fusible fleece in them for more padding.

So cute...love the wide straps, especially when carrying books in the bag. Thin straps always hurt my shoulders.

very nice, is the quilting done by a quilting machine, when I try ti quilt on my sewing machine, it does not come out well unless I am quilting straight lines...

Very pretty! I think they are more elegant when they are quilted.

    Love the wide straps!
Just a construction note: make sure you double, even tripple stitch the handles, especially if your mom is planning on carrying books. They are really heavy! Extending the handles into the body of the purse about an inch or so and securing with stitches in an "X" pattern is a good practice.
    Love the colors too!

I love totes, and have made tons for myself and gifts!! I love yours!! And you're right, the straps are just right for carrying heavy books.

The fabrics are great, and I think your mom is gonna love it.

The wide straps are wonderful and still in a good proportion to the bag. I prefer them to narrow ones :D:D:D

I agree that the straps are too wide. To make them "cushiony" use more batting in the handle.
