Cut Work Portraits - not cut out!
I used the Cut Work Portrait pattern creation techinique to do some FMQ embroidery of my granddaughters, making them pillows for their new bedroom.
The colors are what will be on their bedding. Since all our money has gone to doctor bills, we made most of the gifts for Christmas. I had been given a new, never worn blouse that was the reddish pink stripe (but becuase of hubby's medical condition, I can't wear that color so had it in a sack to go to Goodwill), so I cut that up for the bulk of the fabric I needed. I thought it was fun to include the buttons down the front.
Then I appliqued flowers and quilted flowers in teal. The backs are all scrappy of the left over fabrics.
My daughter had told me the colors to use, and usually she thinks I do a good job, but it really isn't her style at all. But, she really loved the way these pillows came out!
These are the original photos that I used to create the portrait.

I'm sure they were thrilled. Just think----gifts that won't be duplicated-----no long lines to return. Gifts from the heart are so loving and meaningful. I'm sorry medical expenses forced you to do this, but I think you should continue sharing your talents even if you should win the lottery.
