Yep, those jeans are slow going with a pair of scissors. I try to use my rotary cutter as much as possible. I cut across the legs first to separate them from the top and then rotary cut down the welted outside leg seam to open them up. Put them away for a bit and you will have them all ready for another quilt when needed.

It takes a lot of work to 'recycle', but it will be worth it! Give your hands a rest..........soon you will get inspired to go again.

I just did the same thing with 5 inch squares from blue jeans. I also used the pockets to make little zippered pouches or bags. Then I just saw that Joanne's has blue jean material on sale! I may buy some of it if I run low on squares for my rag quilt.

That's really great. I look forward to seeing how you use them.

Keep thinking.. Free fabric.. I've made three quilts, and they are all loved.. I also made pillow covers for my couch.. I love that I can wash them, as that is Socks favorite place to take naps..His girlfriend comes over and she also hangs out on them..

I have been cutting 3" squares, too. Filled up a garbage bag with scrap...so happy that I'm making progress.
