Found three boxes of denim patches already cut out from old jeans I bought at resale stores so looked at these two I had done and decided to share them. I know others do denim quilts as well. I like that they are heavier than normal. Make good snugglies. SO may have to use up those boxes and make some for the gks.

I have a bag of denim in the closet waiting for me... Having never made a quilt like this before, I'm looking for inspiration... Thanks for sparking me!

Have to make it before Christmas 2011......

Yours are pretty!

It was fun buying the old jeans at thrift shops then cutting them up all at once. YOu can even use the pockets for purses etc. I had all colors so could match to a fabric like the red in the red hat one.
Browns, red, blue, black, green, etc. Jeans come in all colors. The older ones look more "used". New denim just doen't do them justice.
With the smaller pieces I can't use, I make eye patches for the rancher next door to glue on the eyes of his cows that get pink eye. SO sometimes, with the stained pieces , etc. I make 50-75 eye patches for him. SO use all the denim and no waste.

They are pretty! There is something about denim quilts that is so special, so comfortable and warm too. Your GKS will love them.

I am going to see if I have about 12 pockets left in my denim stash to make pocket hangers for 2 of my grandchildren for Christmas. Since I have 2 boxes (which is really odd because when I started out the first denim quilt I had only 1 and don't remember adding to it) I should have enough. In fact, think I'll go check now while I'm thinking about it. Bye!

Ok, so now I really know it's time to get organized. Just went thru one box of denim, lots of fabric in many colors, but not one pocket! Don't see the other box, so I must have combined them or given them away, or it was a figment of my imagination  Guess I'll rethink that project!!!

I love denim, but haven't put one into the schedule yet! I love the one with the red in it!
