I think rule number 1 is never let your husband borrow your sewing machine. Let him get his own. I think a real man uses a Bernina 830 (the original, not the new one) or an Elna (real men use the blue Super) (real real men use an old green Supermatic) <Grunts>.
And I too have never met a power tool I couldn't relate to. Happiness is a warm angle grinder.

And yes, I get my man fix down at the local HW store. Nothing like running your hands through a bin of 8 penny nails.

Tim, we don't have an Elna but do have a Necchi from Italy, circa 1959 - is that close enough? LOL! You must have one of those irrevocable, invisible man cards - I just know you do!
I'll be nice to DH, because at the moment he is out building a riser for my cutting mat. No angle grinder, but I'll bet the pneumatic nailer is getting a workout
mamatobugboo, he's actually working on an original design - but I'm sure he'll let us have a peek when it's ready.

Way to go! Looks like he's completely obsessed now. You definitely have no choice but to go buy yourself an new sewchine for yourself!
As for the compass, it looks great!
For those of you who are afraid to try it, like I was, watch this tutorial by Brenda Henning (is that her logo on the paper DH is sewing?) It makes it VERY simple and easy. Even I did it to my satisfaction!

And Tim, I'm with you on the man-card thing. Until they give out "Wimmin cards" just to even things out!
But I do wish I'd taken shop in high scool instead of home-ec. I would have learned a heck of a lot more useful things!
